This no bake dessert recipe does not have banana pudding, but the real banana cream pie flavors of vanilla pudding with slices of fresh banana. It is definitely reminiscent of a banana cream pie. The butterscotch pudding layer, which tastes like caramel, goes so well with the vanilla creaminess of the banana layer. You can use sweetened whipped cream instead of the cool whip layer if you prefer.

Frequently Asked Questions

Expand All:
How do you keep bananas from turning brown in Banana Cream Pie Bars?

Make sure the bananas are completely covered with the pudding. It is oxygen which turns the bananas brown, so if no air can get to them, they shouldn't turn brown.

How long does Banana Cream Pie Bars last?

This no bake summer dessert is best eaten within 3 days. If you want to keep it longer, seal it well with a tight fitting lid or plastic wrap and freeze it for up to 3 months.

Can Banana Cream Pie Bars be frozen?

Yes, this dessert freezes very well. Thaw in the refrigerator for 4-6 hours before serving. It's best to serve partially frozen because the bananas get a bit runny if it is completely frozen. It still tastes great but is harder to cut neatly.
