what kind of bread works best for homemade garlic bread recipe?

I truly love, like I mean LOVE homemade garlic bread made on sourdough bread!! When I bake Easy Sourdough Bread for Beginners, I will often shape a loaf or two in a long cylindrical shape reminiscent of French Bread. This way, I have the perfect bread to whip up some garlic cheese bread any time we want.(I have been known to use sourdough bread loaves sliced if I don’t have any shaped like French bread as well) 😉 If I don’t have any sourdough loaves, of any kind, the next best bread to use is freshly baked French bread from the grocery store. If you prefer a softer crust, thick sliced white or whole wheat Texas toast also makes super yummy and soft garlic bread. I always prefer homemade garlic bread made on slices of bread rather than the halves of French bread loaves. You just get so much more flavor per slice!!
