I used to be intimidated by any kind of ribs recipe! BBQ ribs was, and is one of my absolute favorite meals, but I would just enjoy it at restaurants or at other people's houses. Once I learned that making oven baked ribs in the oven is so easy, I have never ordered ribs from a restaurant again! For this pork ribs recipe, applying the rib rub, then baking long and slow is the best way to fully incorporate the flavor throughout the ribs. Liquid smoke is what gives the smoky flavor. I use brown sugar and garlic salt for a slightly sweet, garlicky rib rub.

To remove the membrane, I start peeling it by running a knife under the membrane, then pull it up. If it breaks or is hard to pull, I will gently run the knife between the membrane and the meat until I get enough to hold onto.
