I started making my own homemade barbecue sauce when I ran out of store bought. Once I developed this recipe, we use this one now and love it! It is made of ingredients that I always have in the cupboard and has become a favorite for us. This recipe is really super simple and only takes 15 minutes. I often have this barbecue sauce made up in the refrigerator to eat on burgers, wraps, sandwiches or whatever else we want to have a sweet and smoky barbecue flavor.

Ingredients

  • Ketchup:This is the base and so much cheaper than store bought barbecue sauces.
  • Brown Sugar:For the caramelly sweetness in the sauce.
  • Liquid Smoke: This is a must to give the sauce that smoky hickory flavor. Can be found in the barbecue sauce aisle of most grocery stores.
  • White Vinegar:
  • Onion Powder:
  • Garlic Powder:
  • Ground Mustard:

  1. Just mix all of the ingredients in a small saucepan and simmer for about 15 minutes.
